The duplex house plan “RB0019” lies on a north facing plot of 15’x40’ and has an efficient G+1 design with both floors having a total built-up area of 600 sq. ft.
The ground floors begins with a long passage area which is 3’6” long and leads into the home. The northeast located stairwell ascends in the east-west direction, and there is a free area measuring 6’1” x 5’6” that does allow some movement. The main entrance is placed on the east side to allow for positive energy according to vastu. The “living hall” is centrally located and is around 10’3” x 11’6”, serving as the core for family activities. The open kitchen in the southeast (“adjoining” in the southeast is in fact, 11’9” by 9”) is also an attractive modern design. The northeast (2’6” x 3’P) pooja room also is ideally placed to offer peace while practicing spiritual activities.
Finishing off the ground floor is the northwest located bedroom (10’3” x 11’8”) which has an attached bathroom (6’5” x 3’7”)Just like the ground floor, the first floor’s configuration and function remains the same. It contains a smooth flow planning passage area measuring 3’3”, the same 6’1” x 5’6” free space, and an main door facing east. Living hall (10’3” x 11’6”) along with the kitchen in the southeast (11’9” x 9”) and pooja room in the northeast (2’6” x 3”) are consistently placed to ensure directional as well as aesthetic harmony for the house. There is also a similarly sized bedroom (10’3” x 11’8”) which comes with a 6’5” x 3’7” bathroom on suite on the upper level.
The design has been done considering scalability in the future, making it possible to add floors down the line if needed. The position of main elements such as the entrance and pooja room complies with vastu and makes sure the flow of energy within the house is optimum. This house compact in size but has relatively high space of unused area, provides enough space to windows and ventilation ensuring flow of air as well as natural light which along with the strategic placing makes it functional yet comfortable for long term habitation.
