Tile Calculator — Estimate Floor & Wall Tile Quantity Easily

Tile Calculator: A Simple Guide for Builders and Homeowners

Tiling seems easy until you have to figure out how many tiles you need. If you make one small mistake in your maths, you could end up with too little or too much. This tile calculator is helpful in that situation. If you know the price per tile, it will give you a quick estimate of the total number of tiles, the area they will cover, and even the cost. It's easy, quick, and saves you a lot of guesswork before you start putting down tiles.

How to Use the Tile Counter

1. Type in the size of the tile
First, type the length and width of your tiles into the boxes. Pick the right unit of measurement: mm, cm, inches, feet, or m.

2. Type in the size of the room
Put in the room's length and width (or height, if it's a wall). For accuracy, make sure they both use the same units.

3. Add Grout Width and Waste Type in the gap between the tiles (in cm) and a small amount of waste, which is usually 5% to 10%. It helps cover up small breaks and trimming.

4. Enter the cost of the tile (optional)
You can add the cost per tile here if you know it. The calculator will give you an idea of how much the whole project will cost.

5. Add More Rooms
If your project has more than one space, click "Add Room." For each new room, write down the same information again.

6. Find the total area and cost
Press Calculate when all the fields are full. You can see the total area, the number of tiles needed, and the total cost for each room and for all of them together.

7. Change or Reset
The dropdown menu lets you change the unit of measurement at any time. Click Reset to start over and delete everything.

⚙️ Quick Note

This tool is meant to give you a rough idea. Depending on the spacing of the grout, the alignment of the walls, and the waste from cutting, the real tile needs may change a little. Before you order, always check with your tiler or supplier first. The floor and wall tile calculator is there to help you plan, not to take the place of measurements taken on site. This way, you can plan better and avoid surprises during installation.
