Step 1: Provide The Measurements

Total Rise:

Calculate the distance from the top of one floor to another.

Total Run:

Estimate the distance in horizontal the staircase will cover.

In the field box labeled “Total Run”, input this value and select the measurement unit (the default is set to feet).

Staircase Width:

Estimate the span of the staircase on the horizontal side. 

In the field box labeled “Staircase Width”, input this value and select the measurement unit (the default chosen is feet).

Step 2: Specify The Details Of The Stairs

Number Of Steps:

Estimation of the steps required for the given flight of stairs.

In the provided input box titled “Number for Steps”, put this value (no unit needed).

Step 3: Calculate

Hit the “Calculate” option.

The calculator displays:

Total Run 

Staircase Width 

Number of Steps 

Rise per Step 

Run per Step 

Stringer Length 

Estimated Materials needed (includes number of stringers, treads, risers and other steps construction materials)
